Virginia’s Senior Session

Virginia brought along her fun style for her senior session, she was so great to work with!  We of course used the farm setting for the outdoor photos as well as some cool backgrounds in studio.  She had to bring her new puppy for some photos too, she was too cute!

Lina & Eric Maternity Session + Lilija’s Newborn Session

I was so fortunate to meet Lina & Eric just as they were preparing for a new baby!  I photographed Lina towards the end of her pregnancy and within a week precious little Lilija entered their lives.  She was so tiny, only a few pounds when she was born – I don’t think I had ever held a baby that small!  Lilija did great throughout the entire newborn session, sleeping for most of it and right towards the end she opened her big beautiful eyes to see what was going on!  I’m sure she has changed a bunch by now and I can’t wait to photograph her again.

The Raven’s Club in Downtown Ann Arbor

The Raven’s Club in downtown Ann Arbor is a fabulous new restaurant! I photographed the restaurant recently and really loved the dark and moody interior, unique details, and the amazing menu- it’s a perfect spot for a great dinner out or even just a cocktail.  On Wednesday’s The Ron Brooks Jazz Trio performs adding to the atmosphere. Ann Arbor’s Restaurant Week (January 15th-20th) is a perfect time to check them out! Here are some of my favorite photos from the session-

Anthony’s Senior Session

It was great working with Anthony for his senior session! We went all around the farm using the barn textures and the bright green grass for the photos. He brought along his favorite jacket for the shoot, some of those are my favorite!

Cody’s Senior Session

I had a great time working with Cody for his senior session!  We did several photos around the farm and then ventured to Depot Town.  It’s a wonderful historic spot for nice texture – from old brick buildings to the rail road tracks that go right through town!

Michelle’s Senior Session

Well Michelle certainly brought her style and personality to her photo session!  She was a natural in front of the camera and did a great job posing and being super natural through the whole shoot!  I had a ton of fun capturing Michelle for her senior photos, I think her personality shines through in the photos.

Joey’s Senior Session

It was great working with Joey for his senior photos.  He is an avid hockey player so he brought along some of his gear for a photo.  We of course used textures of the old barns too, I just love the rusty wall!

Laura & Derek’s wedding at Misty Farm in Ann Arbor

Laura & Derek’s wedding was romantic, fun, light-hearted, and filled with personality and thoughtful DIY touches. The whole day was spent at the amazing Misty Farm in Ann Arbor. This was our first time shooting there and we can’t say enough about it- such a wonderful venue for a wedding! Derek’s sister Ashley and their good friend and usher James serenaded them with a lovely rendition of The Water by Johnny Flynn. They had a charming bluegrass band- The Company of Strangers play during their ceremony and reception as well- they were so talented and the music was perfect for the idyllic setting. Each table had an herb or vegetable theme, with vintage tins, wildflowers, antique botanical illustrations. Guests were given cute little pots and seed packets to start their own gardens, with recipes and personal stories from the couple. The dessert table was filled with contributions from relatives- scrumptious homemade goodies. Their wedding cake was, of course, delicious since it was from Ann Arbor’s own Zingerman’s Bakehouse, with an adorable cake topper made by Star House. Listening to the funny and touching toasts, we learned more about Laura and Derek’s love story- everyone agrees that this couple is absolutely perfect for each other.

Ronan’s One Year Session

Ronan was so fun to capture for his one year session, he certainly brought his personality!  He was all smiles and laughs through the whole session, also very busy!  I think his favorite part was in the wagon, and then getting out of the wagon, and then getting back in it – that’s a one year old for you!  It’s been wonderful to photograph him over the past year.

Nolan’s One Year Session

I can’t believe it’s been a year since I first photographed Nolan as a tiny newborn.  It has been such fun to capture him as he grew over his first year, he seems to always have a smile on his face.  He really has such a fun little personality and was quite silly for his one year photo shoot!

Newborn Adam

I had the pleasure of photographing little Adam at only one week old – he is such a cutie!  His parents worked so hard that day to keep him happy during the shoot and I really appreciated their help!  It’s always such a special thing to be able to capture a newborn, they change so very quick!

Mira & Judd’s Birmingham wedding at The Community House

Mira & Judd had such a lovely wedding day. They each got ready at the luxe Townsend Hotel in downtown Birmingham. Mira was surrounded by her girls, drinking champagne and applying the finishing touches to her classic wedding day look- we have to say she looked very Jackie Kennedy-esque with her grandmother’s pearl earrings, custom-made bolero, sleek hair flip and elegant lace detailed dress. Their day was filled with rich Jewish traditions, including the Kabbalat Panim, the groom’s Tisch, and the Bedeken where their close family members and friends joined them in the celebration. The wedding ceremony took place under the chuppah outside The Community House in Birmingham. All of the flowers were gorgeous- designed by Bill Hamilton Designs. The reception was festive and so happy- they danced the horah, heard emotional and heartfelt toasts, and danced and laughed into the night with Nouveauté filling the dance floor the entire evening. Congratulations Mira and Judd- thanks so much for allowing us to capture your amazing day!

Stephanie & Hans get married at the historic Detroit Yacht Club on Belle Isle

Stephanie and Hans had their first date on Belle Isle when they first met as Wayne State students. They went to the orchid room at the amazing Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory. So it made sense that all these years later, this was the first place they chose to see each other on their wedding day. Detroit is an important place for them- they met here and Hans is an architecture buff, so passionate about the city’s ongoing revival. He gave each of his groomsmen a historic photo of Detroit from local Midtown shop City Bird. Stephanie looked beautiful with her vintage feathered hair piece and classic pearls, and her bouquet and flower arrangements were artfully arranged by one of our favorite Detroit florists- Blumz. Their ceremony and reception both took place at the historic Detroit Yacht Club. The DYC is so rich with history and nautical charm. Guests were welcome to mingle on the terrace overlooking the dock and the yachts along the Detroit River. It was a really sweet wedding, and we are so happy to have been a part of it!
